If you have a MUD client, point it to ljmud.wox.org port 1123, otherwise click here to connect via the web. Once you're connected, type:
create username password email
to create an account. The username and password do not have to be the same as the ones you use on LiveJournal, but it's a good idea to use the same username so people know who you are.
Once you're connected, you'll see a description of the room you're in and a list of other people in the room. To say 'Hello!', type:
Everybody in the room will hear you. Instead of typing out 'say' every time you want to say something you could also just type a double-quote ("). That is,
There's a lot you can do, and I'd like to get a simple tutorial up at some point. In addition, those who like to write can (and are encouraged to) help build some virtual areas for the MUD, and those who like to program can script objects to do all sorts of interesting things. Such flexibility is where I feel MUDs really shine over IRC.
