Paid employees

Not sure if this is good news or bad news, but here goes...

LiveJournal's now going to pay small monthly salaries for a few of us: me, dormando, and evan. Dormando has pretty much taken over all the sysadmin work that I hate. Evan wrote the kick-ass Unix client, and is working on a kick-ass new Windows client. I can't expect these people to work for free forever, and it's hard to find anybody so talented. Plus, I can't do everything myself and it gets lonely working by myself, trying to do everything.

However, that's not to say that everybody else that has been helping isn't talented or worthy of getting paid... it's just that we don't have money to pay everybody that helps out. We've been giving paid accounts away to people that help in support, and I've given permanent accounts to most the big helpers... it's not like I don't at least try and show my appreciation. :-/ I hope one day we're financially well-off enough to be able to pay a lot more of you.

I hope there isn't a huge backlash against this. I don't have any incoming money from FreeVote.com anymore so my only income is little royalty checks every so often from old software I'd written... definitely not enough to live on.

So, thoughts on this?

(-2) You suck, damn commercial bastards. I'm leaving!

(0) Whatever.

(+1) I guess, if that's what's required.

(+2) Good, you guys deserve to be paid.

Heh, had to look in the FAQ for how to do that. (Note to self: make poll creator)

Seriously, though, let me know what you think about this. I don't want people to get angry about this and not speak up.
