Private messages

Hum, I'm not sure if this idea has been brought up before, but I think it would be a cool idea if LiveJournal has a private messaging option. Because comments can be viewed my anyone (unless I'm mistaken and there is a way to make them viewable by just the journal owner?) Or, if this HAS been brought up before, what was the outcome?

...I guess to make myself more clear, on some messageboards, you can private-message a member of the board, and when they log on, there's a little notice saying to check the inbox. Not too complicated :)
