LiveJournal volunteers needed for Peace Corps project

Recently, I came across someone who was a former volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps. She mentioned that LiveJournal would be an excellent way for Peace Corps volunteers to keep in touch with friends, family, and even to let the general public know what they were doing on behalf of our country.

There are more than 7,000 Peace Corps volunteers working worldwide at any one time. What I would like to do is have LiveJournal offer Peace Corps volunteers free accounts and assistance in getting started. I am looking for a small team of new volunteers to contact and work with the various regional and national centers within the Peace Corps to help them get started. My goal is to have hundreds, if not thousands, of Peace Corps volunteers using LiveJournal worldwide to stay in touch with friends, family, and all of us, too. They can also use communities to interact with each other, share ideas, and improve communication. If anyone is interested in helping with this initiative, please respond to this post, let me know what your skills are, and how you think you can help get this project off the ground.

The Peace Corps has three goals: to help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women, to help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served, and to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans. To quote the founder of the Peace Corps, "The Peace Corps represents the highest purpose of this country. It personifies our best qualities and deploys to the world the vision of what the United States stands for." I think that is something worth supporting.
